More than four months after the COVID-19 crisis disrupted the first phase of domestic cricket’s biggest extravaganza, the 2021 edition of the cash-rich league will resume in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the mouthwatering clash between two of the most successful franchises – Chennai and Mumbai. 

Dubbed as the precursor to the upcoming ICC World T20 in UAE and Oman, the 14th season of the IPL will be a major boost for players in terms of getting accustomed to the playing conditions.

Talking about the first match of the UAE leg, the blockbuster encounter between former champions Mumbai and Chennai will kick off the second phase of the IPL 2021 on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium. 

Regarded as late bloomers of the league phase, defending champions Mumbai Indians are blessed with the early returns of star players Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah for the high-profile clash at Dubai.

 Rohit-led Mumbai Indians had revived their campaign by registering a memorable win over CSK in the first leg of the IPL 2021.

What happened when MI last played CSK

Mumbai’s last outing in the IPL 2021 saw the defending champions outclassing Dhoni and Co. by 4 wickets. Kieron Pollard had architected Mumbai’s stunning win with an unbeaten 87 off 34 balls. 
Though Suresh Raina had a forgetful outing, the CSK legend became the 4th player in the history of IPL to play 200 matches. Moeen Ali played a quick-fire knock of 58 while pace ace Bumrah had recorded his most expensive figures in the same match.   

CSK vs MI match prediction: Batsmen have their task cut put as Dubai has remained fast bowler-friendly in recent years. CSK star Faf du Plessis, who had earlier sustained a groin injury can be replaced by Robin Uthappa.
